March of Dimes North Carolina Preconception Health Campaign launches new women’s health website
The March of Dimes North Carolina Preconception Health Campaign (NCPHC) recently launched a new website, everywomannc.com. The site provides comprehensive information about women’s health and preconception health.
Preconception health refers to a woman’s health before she becomes pregnant. It is important to know how health conditions and risk factors could affect a woman or her unborn baby if she becomes pregnant. Better preconception health improves the overall health of women and babies, decreases health disparities, improves our health care system, and decreases costs to families and society.
The site is a comprehensive and easy-to-use resource for women’s health and wellness in North Carolina. The site includes women’s health information organized by age group, in addition to comprehensive information about reproductive life planning, multivitamins and folic acid.
Everywomannc.com also features a section for health care providers and other health professionals that includes current recommendations, free materials and an impressive list of scientific journal articles. Patients value the opinion of their health care provider; therefore health care providers have a unique opportunity to encourage healthy behaviors.
The March of Dimes North Carolina Preconception Health Campaign, formerly the North Carolina Folic Acid Campaign, is a program of the March of Dimes North Carolina Chapter. The Campaign uses innovative initiatives to educate women about the benefits of folic acid, healthy weight and preconception health. The goals of the Campaign are to reduce infant mortality, birth defects, premature birth, and chronic health conditions in women, while also aiming to increase intended pregnancies. Our objectives are to improve women’s wellness, improve reproductive outcomes, and reduce health disparities.
