Public Service Announcements in Spanish

The North Carolina Folic Acid Campaign (NCFAC), partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to produce a new Spanish-language public service announcement (PSA) for television about the importance of taking folic acid every day to prevent neural tube defects.

Over the last couple of years, the CDC produced several new print and radio PSAs based on formative research with the Hispanic community in the United States. Due to a limitation of funding, the CDC lacked a television public service announcement. The NCFAC completed its formative research in North Carolina and had a need for new radio and television commercials based on new findings. By partnering together, the NCFAC and CDC were able to work collaboratively to create a 30 second television commercial addressing the needs and barriers the Hispanic community faces in regards to vitamins and folic acid.

To compliment the new television commercial (the last one was produced in 2006), NCFAC felt that it was important to have two new radio PSAs, however the CDC only offers 30-second PSAs. The NCFAC adapted the current CDC radio PSAs to create two 60-second versions for North Carolina. The NCFAC will also produce new print advertisements this year to compliment the radio and television PSAs.

The CDC and the NCFAC are offering these PSAs to any agency who would like to run them. Both the radio and the television are available to be locally tagged by your agency.
