Health Fair - Free
The theme of our health fairs this year are titled “Healthy Living in 2012.” This year we are partnering with North Carolina Farm Bureau and hosting their “Healthy Living for a Lifetime” Mobile Unit. They will be providing FREE health screenings to all county residents in each county who want to participate. The screenings include: Cholesterol, Blood Glucose, Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index, Bone Density, and Vascular Ultrasound. Participants will receive a “goody bag” after their screening. This mobile unit will be going to all three counties.
We have also invited our community partners to participate in our health fairs. We will have partners such as: Hospitals, Emergency Management, Public Health Preparedness, United Way, Schools, DSS, Community College, local Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, State Highway Patrol, Cooperative Extension, Forestry (Smoky the Bear), Sheriff’s Office (Mr. McGruff), State Employees Credit Union, Massage Therapy provided by local Chiropractors, Dental Health information, Library, Substance Abuse Agencies to name a few and of course our programs at the health department. We are planning on having lots of fun and information at these health fairs and looking forward to helping our community members that do not have a means of getting health care and be screened for FREE.
