Prematurity is the leading cause of newborn death in the United States. How can this be changed? This session will inform healthcare providers about perinatal quality improvement projects, quality/safety collaboratives, opportunities for improvement in care during labor and birth, and strategies to reduce non-medically indicated (elective) births prior to 39 weeks gestational age. As a result of participating, healthcare providers will learn to improve their overall quality of care for mothers and babies and help prevent elective births.
